Spring break

Last week was spring break for Tyler and Bella and we were lazy! We did go to the park and a few other things, but basically we just hung around the house.

                                                    She LOVED sliding!
Then she took a 3 hour and 20 minute nap so maybe we should go to the park more often!

This weekend was the first weekend in months and months that we didn't have anything to do. It is nice to be able to just go eat and not have to worry about being at so and so place at so and so time. We did take Tyler to see The Hunger Games on Sunday. Tyler and I both read the books and I thought the movie was really good. I cried several times even though I knew what was going to happen! That will be my last movie for a while and I'm glad it was a good one.

They made a lot of progress on our house this week.

I love this girl! Notice the new baby bed in the back ground that I have to return because it is scratched. Love when that happens.
Watching basketball and eating goldfish with dad :)

So I am 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant. It is a weird feeling waking up everyday and thinking "I could have a baby today". I'm still hoping that he will stay put until after the 1st, but Jason thinks that he will come on Wednesday because Finley was 2 days early. I guess we will see.
I almost passed out when I looked at this on Friday. I knew my due date was a week away, but seeing it on the screen made me realize how soon it is!
39 week belly, my waist is 42 INCHES!!

Have a great week!

38 weeks and other happenings

I'm 38 weeks pregnant today. Basically all that means is that my due date is in 2 weeks, but the baby could come anytime in the next 2 to 4 weeks. As of Wednesday he is sitting tight and in no big hurry to meet us. He probably hears how crazy it is in this house and is scared! I would be too ;) I'm really hoping that he will stay put until after Bella's birthday on April 1st. April 2nd or 4th would be a perfect birthday, don't you think? I still feel great. Yes, I have aches and pains and contractions and can't sleep, but all that is to be expected and it is not that bad. I can honestly say this has been my best pregnancy. I have felt really good the whole time and I know keeping my weight down has helped. 25 pounds is much easier to carry around than 45 pounds!

I think I have basically everything I wanted to buy before he gets here. I still have not decided on a double stroller. That is making me a little crazy, but they are so dang expensive and every time I think I have found one I read a really bad review and then I have to start over again. I don't want to pay several hundred dollars on something and then hate it. I don't know why I have such a hard time with stuff like that. I also haven't bought his bedding yet, but that can wait since Finley still sleeps in the baby bed and he will be in our room with us for while. I do know what I want so at least it won't take me months to decide on bedding.

I have made a list of stuff to do and buy and am slowly getting through everything on the list. I hope to be completely done this weekend. Then I'm sure I will find something else to worry about, but hopefully I will just relax.

They started framing our house this week. Yay!
I took this Tuesday so they have done quite a bit more since then.

Tyler has his first soccer game tomorrow. Bella's game was cancelled so she has a week off with no practice or games.

Spring break is next week! I'm really looking forward to no homework and sleeping in for a week. I'm planning on doing a few things with the kids next week because once the baby is born I doubt if I will ever leave the house again ;)

 Cute little toddler feet
A brief moment when they weren't fighting.

We bought a potty this week. She sits on it (while still dressed) and carries it around, but at least she likes it. I'm not even thinking about potty training right now, but I thought I would buy so she could get used to the idea.

Bella's birthday (1 month early)

We celebrated Bella's 8th birthday on March 2. Her actual birthday is not until April 1st, but since the little one is due on the 30th we weren't sure what would be going on at that time and she wanted to go to the American Girl doll store in Atlanta.

We rented the fellowship hall at my parents church since everyone wouldn't fit in this house and my parents are redoing their kitchen and they have no cabinets or sink right now. We had pizza, chips, dip, cake and ice cream. I have to say that the cake was great! Bella wanted chocolate cake and icing and it was so good and moist.

Saturday morning we got up and drove to Atlanta so she could spend her birthday money at the American Girl doll store. That store is huge and packed. There were so many people in there that you could hardly move, but Bella had no problem finding what she wanted. She bought Marie-Grace, McKenna, and My American Girl doll #33 which she named Taylor. She also bought several accessories kits. We had lunch at the cafe and it was pretty good. If you ever decide to go make sure you have a reservation though. I heard them tell a lady that didn't have one that they were booked all day! We had a really nice time there and enjoyed seeing Bella so excited about all of her new dolls.

Now the bad part. We had all had a stomach virus that week. Bella actually started it on Monday February 20th. She only puked once, but she didn't fell great for a couple of days. Finley did the exact same thing Saturday night the 25th. Then Jason got sick on Monday and I got it on Tuesday and Tyler got it on Thursday. Mine only lasted 3 days, so by Bella's party I was feeling fine. Tyler was out of commission until Thursday the 8th when he was finally able to go back to school. Jason's started on the 27th and he was not better until the 8th too! He ended up having to go on Monday the 5th to the doctor and get TWO bags of fluids! For some reason it hit the guys a lot worse than the girls. But Finley did puke on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, but it was only at night. It was really a strange virus. It was almost like we all got a different strain or something. We are finally all better and I hope that stomach bug stays away from here for a while!

                                                      So GOOD!

Lately

The last couple of weeks have been really busy. Last Saturday we picked out lighting for our house and that was exciting and expensive. The kids had their last regular season basketball games. Bella had her first tournament game on Friday and they won! They play Tuesday night in the championship game and I'm really hoping they beat this team and win the tournament. Tyler played their first tournament game Saturday and they won, but had their second game yesterday and lost so basketball is over for him. Soccer practice started last week as well overlapping a week with basketball. Now our weekly schedule is Bella has soccer practice Monday and Thursday at 6:30 and Tyler has is Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30. Some days I really wish that Tyler could drive!

I went to the doctor last Wednesday and the baby is doing great. I signed the forms so I can have a water birth if I want to. Yesterday was our last Hypnobabies class. I really enjoyed the class and I feel like it will truly help with my labor and delivery.

I now have less than five weeks until my due date. I'm starting to stress a little. I never feel like I'm ready and I still feel like I have so much to do before he gets here. Shouldn't our schedule be less busy as we get closer to having the baby and not more? That never happens for us!
                                                      35 weeks

I got Tyler's headboard and his entertainment center painted last week. Now all I have left is his dresser. For some reason I saved the worst for last. Now I also have to find him a new comforter.

Our house is coming along. They are done with the block and they should pour the slab this week in the basement.
Nice picture of the waterproofing and the port-a-potty!

I had maternity pictures made at 31 weeks by Jennifer Branham. She did a great job and I can't wait to see what she does with the new baby. Here are some of my favorites.

The big 3-0 and my 100th blog post!

It's official, I'm no longer in my 20's. I turned 30 last Wednesday. I thought it would be hard, but I still feel like I did last Tuesday so I think I will be alright. This was one of the best birthdays I've had in a while. We were home so I could celebrate with my family, Jason got me a great gift, and a cookies and cream cake with Breyers ice cream (my favorite). They say you are only as old as you feel and I feel about 23 so that is what I'm going with.
                                           Cookies and cream cake
                                                   My present!
                                                    Cupcakes from my sister

My birthday was a busy day. I had to do some stuff for our house and then I had a doctors appointment. They baby is doing great and they estimated his weight to be 4lbs 12 ozs so he is a little above average. I'm not sure if they will do another ultrasound or not since his growth has been right on track.

                                             Progress on our house.

Tyler and Bella had basketball games on Saturday and then we had to pick out appliances for the new house. We had our fourth Hypnobabies class on Sunday. I can't believe we only have two more left! Yesterday our washer and dryer was delivered here and I was so excited that I washed three loads of clothes!

This is my 100th post and my one year blogaversary was January 28th. I was going to try and do something special for it, but it's been busy around here so I didn't have time to come up with anything. I figured sharing it with my 30th birthday and Valentine's day is pretty good ;)

Happy Valentine's day to everyone!

Night stand re-do

Yesterday I got several things done.

I cleaned up and cleaned out Bella's room. It took 2 1/2 hours and every time I clean it I swear up and down that I will never do that again. I did throw away two bags of crap that she just collects for some reason. She is such a hoarder! But, it's clean for now and hopefully she will keep it that way since I threatened her life ;)

When Tyler out grew his bunk beds we gave him Jason's old bedroom suit. Jason didn't take very good care of it, but it worked out good for Tyler. I've been wanting to refinish it for a while and make it look a little more modern, but I had no idea how to do that and I have always heard that it is a pain in the butt and very time consuming to strip off all the old stain. I had been reading about Annie Sloan's chalk paint (not chalkboard paint) for a few weeks and I finally bought some two weeks ago. Yesterday was the first day that I had time and it wasn't raining so I brought his nightstand out on the patio and did it. I was very nervous because I'm not crafty or creative and I didn't want to mess it up. I picked his night stand because it was small and didn't take too long. Of course after I got it outside and looked at the night stand it was in pretty bad shape and it definitely couldn't look any worse. If I messed it up I decided that I would just pay someone to refinish the entire bedroom suit and be done with it.

Before pictures:

I'm really not sure what the black stuff is so I asked Tyler and he said he could have spilled something on there and "forgot" to wipe it off.
The top looked horrible! I guess I just hadn't looked at it in so long that I forgot how bad it was.

  After:

I was shocked at how much better the top looked!

I went back and forth on buying new pulls or just painting the old ones. I ended up just spray painting them black and I love how they turned out!

 The finished product!
Since this is my first time ever doing something like this I have nothing to compare it to, but this was so easy and only took a couple of hours from start to finish. There is no prep work! No sanding or striping. I did sand the top just a little because it was so rough, but I really think it would have came out the same if I would have just left it alone. The first coat when on really fast and dried very quickly so I was able to start the second coat as soon as I finished the first. The second coat did take a little longer to dry. I bought dark soft wax and just used a cloth to rub it in. I put the pulls back and that was it! The only drawback is the price. It is $34.95 for a quart! Now it does go a long way and I should be able to do Tyler's whole room with a quart so when you think of it that way it is not too bad. I didn't distress Tyler's furniture because he liked how it turned out, but it is supposed to be very easy to distress so it can have that aged look.

Now I hope to do the rest of his furniture before the baby gets here. I'm also planning on painting Bella's furniture Old White, but that will be after the baby gets here! I have several other pieces of furniture that I want to paint, but they have so many great colors that I'm having a hard time deciding which ones I like best.
